Meet Rick Cyr, quality technician, based at the Pelham facility in Greenville, SC. He is our mission critical employee for June and has been part of the Aalberts surface technologies-accurate brazing team for just over 5 years.
Rick loves working with the great team at Pelham. It is a lean and efficient shop where the team works well together, especially on busy days when it can be a challenge to get it all done.
He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When Rick was 15, he was selected as captain and point guard of basketball Nova Scotia. The team competed against the best teams from other provinces and ended up winning the championship.
His dad is an American citizen, and after Rick spent his first 20 years in Canada, he moved to the US for better opportunities. He joined the US military and spent 4 years with the 101st Airborne in Kentucky. Rick ended up in South Carolina after a stint in Oregon where he worked at a lumber mill.
Words that Rick lives by are: Do not worry about the little things. Learn from the past and don’t look back. The past is over, but the future is waiting.
Outside of work, you will most likely find Rick working on his yard or doing home renovation projects. He also enjoys drawing and painting. And, if you ever get the chance, visit his office. You will see the beautiful results of his hobby on display!
